Mary Corrigan, President
Mary’s passion for educating at-risk youth began growing up in Chicago, where she witnessed the effects of poverty, violence, discrimination, and segregation.  She began her teaching career in Cicero, Illinois as a middle school English teacher. She continued this career in Lee County, Florida where she served as a reading and Language Arts teacher, reading coach, teacher trainer, and teacher leader. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Illinois State University, a Masters of Education in Literacy from Dominican University, and professional development certification from Florida Literacy and Reading Excellence (FLaRE).  Mary is currently Board Secretary of the Children's Services Foundation of Southwest Florida.  She is pursuing a Ph.D. in Reading, Language, and Literacy Leadership from Concordia University, Chicago where her focus is Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) learners. She maintains her direct involvement with young learners by volunteering at The Harlem Heights Community Charter School. Mary works to be part of a systemic change that will close the literacy opportunity gap as well as raise the bar for all Lee County youth.

Regina Kilmartin, Secretary
A native of New York, Regina has worked in the legal community for over 30 years as a court reporter and small business owner. A graduate of the Machine Shorthand Institute of Albany, Regina worked as a freelance court reporter until 1995, when she started American Legal Transcription (ALT), a New York State and federally approved legal transcription agency. ALT was a pioneering agency in the state's transition from live court reporters to audio recording, and she continues to serve as a consultant to several legal transcription agencies in New York.
Regina sold her business in 2009 and relocated to Florida, where she currently works as the congregational administrator for All Faiths Unitarian Congregation in Fort Myers. Her experience in the New York State court system has given her a strong appreciation for legal justice for all people.  Through her work at All Faiths she has been able to actively engage in her life-long commitment to social justice and human rights.   She chairs the Communications Committee and produces a 12-page monthly newsletter that has been recognized as outstanding.  Regina organized All Faiths’ Justice Ministry Network and serves as a team leader for Lee Interfaith for Empowerment (LIFE), an interfaith community-based organization that has successfully brought about systemic change in our local community.
Regina believes that literacy is every individual’s right, and the first and most important step towards a life that can overcome injustice.  She feels that our greatest contribution to the future is to enable literacy for all.
